GOP Voters: Do You Still Support Trump?
Dear Trump supporter, I am reaching out to ask you a few questions.
I am not gloating (mostly) over the 37-count indictment leveled at Donald Trump by the Department of Justice. I am just laughing with others and not laughing at you for supporting him. Sorta.
I know you generally hate the DOJ, and I recognize that your support of the top law enforcement agency generally hinges on whether they are investigating the GOP enemy of the year — i.e., Hillary Clinton, President Obama, or Hunter Biden.
That being said, i’d like to focus your attention on certain unassailable facts the DOJ uncovered and shared with the American public this week, and get your opinions and responses.
With the presidential campaign starting in earnest, I feel now is the time to understand where you are in terms of your support for Trump, specifically, and the GOP in general.
Do you still support Donald Trump?
If so, why?
He was indicted by regular citizens from the state of Florida. Yes, Florida where his home, Mar A Lago Resort hotel is located. Where some of his most fervent supporters live, and where the governor has strong support for eliminating Black history from school lessons and passed laws banning Mexican and Latino/Hispanic workers.
A group of citizens, i.e., the Grand Jury, agreed with the DOJ that there was an overwhelming amount of proof that Donald Trump broke many laws.
Maybe you want to follow the lead of some of the leading republican candidates for president who are inexplicably still supporting Trump, despite knowing multiple indictments were coming. They all still support Trump. Even those who right now say they do not — they absolutely would if by some miracle he is the republican candiate in 2024.
Back to the questions.
I am guessing you’ve read for yourself on watched reports on what the indictment says?
Did it infuriate you like most other Americans?
Do you now see the depth of Trump’s criminality and disregard for the rule of law?
You certainly understand the danger of sharing top secret information about military readiness and vulnerabilities with… anyone?
Do you feel a certain way knowing Trump shared nuclear secrets?
And that some of what he shared is so secretive it had to be redacted on the indictment documents?
Do you wonder like many other Americans, if Trump sold copies of the documents to individuals and foreign enemies?
And if he did, how much (illegal) money did he receive?
Thinking of questions closer to home now…
Will you apologize to your friends and relatives who tried and failed to convince you that Trump was bad for the country?
Will you admit you made a mistake giving him money, voting for him, and wearing his stupid red hat?
Will you admit Trump is a liar?
And to the Christians…
Will you admit God didn’t tell you to support Trump?
Will you admit you were wrong about Trump being sent by God?
Will you admit Trump isn’t a “man of God?”
Will you admit that neither President Joe Biden, Vice President Kamala Harris are evil and working for satan?
Specifically to catholic leadership who supported Trump over lifelong observant Catholic President Joe Biden..
Will you admit you lied and served your own interests and not the church’s or God’s when you refused to support Joe Biden and said he should not receive communion?
We are fifteen months from the 2024 election and my fervant hope is that republican voters will course-correct themselves and move away from supporting Trump and any candiate who still supports him and/or refuses to denouce him.
But like many folk, I will not hold my breath waiting on republican voters to do the right thing and prioritize the country above party.
No, I will be counting on democratic voters from all across the Big Tent to again reject Donald Trump and/or any other GOP candidate so that the progress we’ve seen over the past few years under President Biden and Vice President Harris — and elected democrats — continues.
