We Can’t Go Back

In the 1960’s my teenage mother couldn’t get birth control or an abortion.

She was 20 when I was born; the third of 3 boys.

She was kicked out of her home and school and couldn’t work. She was called a slut and a whore by the white welfare workers, and her Black church family.

We can’t go back.

In the 1990’s a teen friend at church got pregnant and kept it a secret until she couldn’t.

One day her family came home to see her holding baby. She had taken bus to hospital, had the baby, then immediately told to leave because she had no healthcare. She took the bus home with a newborn baby wrapped in hospital blanket.

We can’t go back.

A person I know who is a preacher who is against premarital sex and the sin of abortion. Over thirty years ago he paid for his girlfriend’s abortion. Religious leaders and religious gop are passing anti-abortion laws while paying for safe abortions for their wives, daughters, and mistresses.

We can’t go back.

The only way we protect women and girls, ensure their access to healthcare, save abortions, and pre and post natal health, is to vote for President Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris -and all democrats in your local and state elections.
